We sell pre-orders for the hardcover book The Gift of Time — How AI Transforms Your Purpose and Our World by Erika Reed, and host information about book signing events. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Orders and Purchases
When you place a pre-order on our site, we collect the following information to process and fulfill your order:
- Name and billing address — required to process your payment and verify your identity
- Shipping address — required to ship your book to you
- Email address — used to send your order confirmation and shipping notification
- Phone number (optional) — used only if we need to reach you about your order
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your credit card number on our servers
- Dedication name(s) — if you request a personalized inscription (e.g., “To Sarah”), this is saved with your order so Erika can sign your copy correctly
Order records are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years for accounting and tax compliance purposes.
Event Registrations
When you register for a book signing event, we collect your name and email address, and optionally your phone number. This information is used solely to confirm your registration, send you event details or updates, and manage event capacity. Event registration records are retained for one (1) year after the event date.
Contact Form
When you submit a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry. Contact form submissions are retained for six (6) months for customer service purposes and are not used for marketing.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to provide a functional shopping experience. The cookies used on this site include:
- woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart — session cookies that track the contents of your shopping cart
- wp_woocommerce_session_ — a session cookie that stores your cart data server-side
- wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_sec — set if you create an account or log in

Analytics

reCAPTCHA
Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to protect against spam and automated submissions. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. This service is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party. We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate this website and fulfill your orders:
- Stripe — our payment processor. When you check out, your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. Privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy
- Hostdog.net — our web hosting provider. Your data is stored on servers managed by Hostdog.net in the United States.

All data is processed in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have placed an order, you can also view your order history by logging into your account (if you created one at checkout).
How We Protect Your Data
This website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our server. Payment data is never stored on our servers — it is handled entirely by Stripe, which is certified to the highest payment security standard (PCI DSS Level 1). We use Wordfence, a security firewall and malware scanner, to protect the site against unauthorized access. Access to the website back-end is restricted to authorized personnel only.
Data Breach Procedures
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, we will notify affected users by email within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, to the extent that is reasonably possible.
Where Your Data Is Sent
All data collected on this website is processed and stored in the United States. We do not currently transfer personal data to countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) or subject to GDPR jurisdiction. If you are visiting from the EU or EEA, you acknowledge that your data will be processed in the US, which may have different data protection standards than your country of residence.
